ABSTRACT / SAŽETAK:
Antibacterial agents as a combination of silver, gold, and their bimetal nanoparticles (AgNPs, AuNPs, and Ag/AuNPs) with mesoporous silica SBA-15 are presented. In the simple “green” synthetic procedure with L-histidine as a bridge between these two components, three different nanocomposites – SBA-15/Ag, SBA-15/Au, and SBA-15/Ag-Au, were synthesized. Throughout SBA-15 with unchanged, granular morphology, spherical AgNPs, and AuNPs, with 8.5 and 16 nm in diameter, respectively, and peanut-like (7 x 15 nm) Ag/AuNPs were uniformly dispersed. After their characterization, antimicrobial evaluation toward E. coli and S. aureus was established. After 2h of interaction, 1 ppm of SBA-15/Ag showed a complete reduction of microbial growth, while the other two nanocomposites have insignificant values.
