SAŽETAK /ABSTRACT:
Nastojeći da odgovorimo na pitanje kako je knjiga neobrazovanog kotlokrpe bila bestseler koji je prodat u preko 100 000 kopija za Banjanovog života, do 1938. godine doživela oko 1300 izdanja, dobila status preteče romana u engleskoj književosti, prevedena na oko 216 svetskih jezika, a njen autor nazvan „Spenserom običnih ljudi” i „puritanskim Šekspirom”, ovim radom istražujemo uticaj Banjanove višeslojne fikcije na različite generacije sa namerom da savremenom čitaocu otkrijemo potencijal višestrukih čitanja alegorije Hodočasnikovo putovanje (ThePilgrim’sProgress, 1678, 1684).
