ABSTRACT / SAŽETAK:

This study investigates a novel poly(oligo(alkylene glycol)) methacrylate hydrogel, synthesized via radiation-induced copolymerization of oligo(propylene glycol) methacrylate (OPGMA) and oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (OEGMA) at equal mole fractions. The copolymerization aimed to explore its effect on hydrogel swelling properties compared to their homopolymeric counterparts, POPGMA and POEGMA, with distinct volume phase transition temperatures (VPTT) of around 13 and 70 °C, respectively. The resulting copolymeric hydrogel displayed a VPTT within the range of heightened physiological temperatures, indicating successful property tuning through copolymerization. Furthermore, we conducted tests on these three hydrogels as carriers for diclofenac sodium delivery in vitro. The evaluation of controlled drug delivery indicated encouraging prospects for the resulting copolymeric hydrogel in medical applications.
