SYNTHESIS, SPECTROSCOPIC CHARACTERIZATION AND BSA INTERACTIONS OF 3-(1-((4-HYDROXY PENTYLAMINO)ETHYLIDENE)CHROMAN-2,4-DIONE

ABSTRACT / САЖЕТАК:

In this study, we synthesized a novel coumarin derivative, specifically 3-(1-((4-hydroxy pentylamino)ethylidene)cromane-2,4-dione by the reaction of 3-acetyl-4-hydroxycoumarin and 5- aminopentanol in methanol. The compound was obtained after 2 hours of reflux. The synthesized coumarin derivative was obtained in very good yield (80%) and characterized using elemental microanalysis, Uv-Vis, IR and NMR spectroscopy. Furthermore, the interaction of investigated compound with bovine serum albumin (BSA) was studied using fluorescence spectroscopy and the Stern-Volmer constant (Ksv), quenching rate constant (kq) and the number of binding sites (n) are determined. The obtained constants for the formed BSA-ligand complex indicate good quenching ability of BSA.
