САЖЕТАК /ABSTRACT:

Глобални демографски процеси, а нарочито пораст удела старијег становништва, представљају један од главних изазова за системе социјалне сигурности и јавне политике савремених друштава. Ослањајући се на теоријске поставке Еспинг-Андерсенове поделе режима благостања, као и на савремене социолошке теорије старења, у раду се даје приказ положаја старијих у различитим друштвено-политичким и институционалним контекстима, кроз компаративни приказ система социјалне сигурности Сједињених Америчких Држава, Француске, Јапана и Србије. Методолошки оквир истраживања заснива се на квалитативној анализи садржаја релевантних законских оквира, јавних политика и националних стратегија, уз секундарне квантитативне податке невладиних и међународних организација. Резултати указују на то да се положај старијих значајно разликује у зависности од система социјалне сигурности, при чему државе које поседују јасне институционалне механизме и развијене стратегије активног старења, успевају да ублаже негативне ефекте економских и демографских притисака. Закључује се да разумевање процеса старења мора бити вишедимензионално, истовремено демографско, политичко и социокултурно, како би обухватило сложене процесе који одређују положај старијих у савременим друштвима.
