SAŽETAK / ABSTRACT:
Due to the need to automate all systems and processes, new technologies are being developed to ensure fast and secure data transfer. Communication, which is necessary, often creates the need for additional cabling and installation of new infrastructure, which affects the price of the system itself. Along with additional network expansion, in some cases this can lead to aggravating circumstances. The topic of this paper is the increasingly common application of communication through power lines and the reasons for their application. Communication via AC cables, also known as PLC (Power Line Communication) is increasingly applied in home and business networks, but it also finds its application in industrial networks. In addition to the advantages achieved by applying this type of communication, the disadvantages that exist also will be presented, but which will decrease over time, due to the development of technology. Using the example of an utility solar power plant, a case will be presented in which energy cables as a medium can improve the performance of the system, as well as the points where their application is not desirable, due to their limitations.
