САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:
The collision of birds with infrastructural objects, such as highvoltage overhead power lines, represents a significant ecological problem, both in Europe and in Serbia. The collision can have a negative impact on the bird population, reducing biological diversity, and thus on the ecological balance. This problem most often occurs when birds hit electrical conductors or pass under them, and is especially pronounced in migration areas. Due to its location, Serbia is considered an important area for the ornithofauna of Europe, as it hosts a large number of birds that migrate between Europe, Asia and Africa. The number of bird species on the territory of Serbia makes up about 75% of the total bird fauna of Europe. Taking into account the importance of biodiversity, and with the aim of reducing negative impacts, the issue of collision of birds with infrastructure facilities, and therefore with high-voltage overhead lines, is receiving more and more attention.
In accordance with the above, different approaches to preventing bird collisions have been developed, preventive strategies and policies are being developed to ensure a sustainable system of nature protection and stabile work of transmission systems.
