SAŽETAK / ABSTRACT:

The transmission system operator (TSO) JSC Elektromreza Srbije (EMS JSC) has seen a sharp increase in the procurements of power quality (PQ) measuring devices (by 146 devices in the last two years) to send data to the national dispatch centre via a system designed to connect more than 200 measuring devices. On the other hand, the smart electricity meters owned by EMS JSC also have, albeit more modestly, but with new models increasingly advanced capabilities for recording PQ data. According to data from 2023, they are installed at 330 billing and control metering points in the 110 kV, 220 kV, and 400 kV networks and 77 others, as well as at 585 metering points in JSC Elektroprivreda Srbije and 88 others in the facilities of electric power system users. In terms of performance and cost-effectiveness, this paper will compare the possibilities and importance of implementing smart meters in terms of recording PQ data compared to significantly more expensive PQ measuring devices. It will present the experiences of the Romanian TSO Transelectrica.
