SAŽETAK / ABSTRACT:
Over the past decade, synchrophasor measurements have been widely used in various applications for improving power systems performance. One such application enables transmission line parameter estimation in real-time. However, since this functionality is not available in commercial software packages, a custom application has been developed and tested in a laboratory environment.
This application allows the estimation of positive-sequence transmission line parameters, including resistance, inductance, and capacitance. Additionally, an extra module enables the calculation of the average conductor temperature, that could contribute to a more efficient utilization of the transmission network’s capacity. The laboratory testing of the application was conducted using two phasor measurement units (PMUs), which, in real-world conditions, would be installed in substations at both ends of the transmission line. Additionally, a phasor data concentrator (PDC) was used, which included a developed program for transmission line parameters and temperature estimation, then GPS clock for precise time synchronization, and ethernet switch. The testing platform included a real-time digital power system simulator and an amplifier, which adjusted output currents and voltages to match the characteristics of the phasor measurement units’ analogue inputs. The application verification process using Real‑Time Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop testing platform, along with a display of available user interfaces, is described in detail in the paper.
