SAŽETAK: 

Polazeći od stava da inovacije u obrazovanju postaju imperativ obrazovnih sistema, predmet ovog rada jesu magnet-škole koje, mada predstavljaju američki model javnih, državnih škola, privlače pažnju istraživača i pedagoške javnosti i van američkog kontinenta. Cilj rada je analiza osnovnih karakteristika magnet-škola u kontekstu globalnih trendova i savremenih obrazovnih politika. Ovaj cilj konceptualizovan je u okviru tri zadatka: (1) sagledavanje globalnih trendova u obrazovanju s posebnim osvrtom na pitanje izbora škole, (2) predstavljanje nastanka magnet-škola i analiziranje njihovih osnovnih karakteristika, (3) ispitivanje efekata delovanja magnet-škola. Na osnovu teorijske analize, zaključuje se da magnet-škole, kao škole izbora koje privlače učenike i roditelje zainteresovane za određene sadržaje ili pristupe obrazovanju, imaju potencijal da deluju u pravcu osiguravanja jednakih šansi za kvalitetno obrazovanje, jer uvođenjem inovacija u praksi nastoje istovremeno da promovišu kvalitet obrazovanja, jednakopravnost i socijalnu pravdu.
