САЖЕТАК /ABSTRACT:
In this article I discuss my longing, which began in early childhood, to understand my Jewish paternal family history in Belgrade, Serbia and trace the story of what happened to my grandfather Alexander Brill. As an adult I filled in the gaps through research, interviewing my father, and trips to Belgrade, so that I could better understand the Holocaust in Serbia and learn more about my grandfather’s fate. I was part of the project that brought to Belgrade the first Stolpersteine, small stones that memorialize Holocaust victims and survivors outside their last voluntary residences.
