САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:
This study aims to determine the concentrations of Fe, Mg, Cu, Sr, Na, K, Zn, Ni, and Mn, elements essential for seawater flora and fauna. Fish, therefore, may be an indicator of heavy metals in the water. To this aim, an analysis of Mullus barbatus fish ash of the whole fish (including bones) from both open blue sea and in the Boka Kotorska Bay were analyzed by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission spectroscopy (ICP OES). The results indicate that these elements correspond to the sampling sites, making the ash of the entire Mullus barbatus a reliable indicator of heavy metal presence in seawater, both in the open sea and within the bay.
