ABSTRACT / САЖЕТАК:

In his book Deep Utopia (2024), Nick Bostrom examines the question of life’s meaning within a “solved world,” where technological advancements have resolved all human challenges and eliminated the need for work, granting people the freedom to shape their lives as they will. From a technological maturity standpoint, a deep utopia is a realistic goal, while assuming human work and activity are needed would be unrealistic. A future in which autonomous machines are woven into daily life raises new questions and challenges, as work has traditionally been a means of human self-realization. There’s a risk that a world dominated by autonomous machines could become one in which humanity is enslaved by its own ideas.  The present paper will point out that Bostrom’s “solved world” thought experiment overlooks the notion that meaning and values in human life are intrinsically tied to work.
