SAŽETAK / ABSTRACT:

Single piles are relatively well studied. When greater load-bearing capacity is required, piles are grouped together. When  vertical compression force is applied on the group, not all piles are loaded equally. In fact, the sum of the load-bearing capacities of all piles in a group is less than the sum of the load-bearing capacities of all single piles. This effect is known as pile group efficiency and depends on many factors, which are discussed in this article.
