SAŽETAK / ABSTRACT:
The paper analyzes the geotechnical characteristics associated with the reconstruction of the Vrbas–Sombor railway line, with a focus on terrain features and their implications for the design of the railway substructure. The geotechnical investigations included the determination of the physical and mechanical properties of the soil, hydrogeological conditions, and an assessment of subsoil bearing capacity, during which layers with limited geotechnical potential were identified. The analysis was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the current regulations, with the aim of achieving long-term stability and safety of the infrastructure system. The obtained results indicate the need for careful planning of stabilization measures, the alternative solutions of which will be presented in more detail in the paper
