САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:

Deep eutectic solvents (DES) are a new class of green solvents marked as promising new mediums for dissolving existing therapeutics. Among them, choline chloride:ascorbic acid DES (ChCl:AA) shows potential synergistic activity with therapeutics since it can enhance their solubility and bioavailability and lead to prolonged antioxidant properties and antimicrobial activity. In this work, we aimed to determine the cytotoxic potential of ChCl:AA against normal, MRC-5, and malignant HeLa cells by employing an XTT assay. HeLa cells showed higher sensitivity to ChCl:AA at all tested concentrations, compared to MRC-5 cells, seen as lower IC50 values. Also, low concentrations reduced the percentage of viable HeLa cells while increasing the proliferation of MRC-5 cells, suggesting different responses of normal and cancer cells to ChCl:AA, and its potential application in cancer treatment.
