САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:

Sustainability has become a fundamental paradigm in education, shaping not only curricular content, but also the values, attitudes, and practices promoted within schools. The study explores how primary school teachers in Slovenia understand and implement sustainability in their pedagogical practice. Qualitative and quantitative analyses reveal that while teachers generally express high self-assessed awareness, their understanding is often limited to environmental aspects. Fewer respondents demonstrate a broader conceptual grasp that includes ethical and social components. Teachers largely support the interdisciplinary integration of sustainability and recognize its importance in modern education. However, inconsistencies remain in daily implementation and curricular familiarity. The findings underline the need for structured professional development and institutional support to move beyond surface-level engagement and foster sustainability as a core educational value.
