САЖЕТАК:
Рад је посвећен развитку адвокатуре у Француској кроз историју, а нарочита пажња се у раду скреће на борбу адвоката да поправе штету коју је њиховом положају нанела Буржоаска револуција. До потпуног остварења циљева адвокатске борбе дошло је у периоду Треће републике, с правом назване „републиком адвоката“, када су загосподарили законодавном и извршном влашћу.
Француски адвокати су, нарочито у XIX веку, неретко били прави политички дисиденти. Својим опозиционим радом редефинисали су однос између државе и друштва и поставили јасну границу власти државе, што је све омогућило лакши настанак либералне уставне монархије, а потом и републике. Због константног опозиционог деловања у судници, адвокати су на најбољи могући начин демонстрирали у колико тесној вези стоје право и политика у свакој држави.
У уводном поглављу рада аутор даје преглед историјског развоја адвокатуре од франачког периода до саме Револуције. У доба Старог режима адвокати су уживали статус „секуларног свештенства“ и, иако припадници Трећег сталежа, били су незаобилазан политички фактор у апсолутистичкој Француској. Друго поглавље садржи анализу погубног утицаја Револуције на адвокатску професију и стидљиве покушаје да се положај адвокатуре поправи са наступањем Рестаурације. У трећем поглављу дат је преглед периода од 1830. до 1870. године, који је карактерисала све озбиљније мешање адвоката у политику у циљу борбе за унапређење положаја професије. Поглавље о Трећој републици говори о успешном исходу адвокатске борбе за сопствена права, а завршно поглавље о тенденцијама у француској адвокатури у XX веку.
