ABSTRACT / SAŽETAK:

The growing importance of environmental protection has intensified the significance of ecological crime, that is, crime directed against environmental protection and against the rules governing the use of natural resources. In recent times, environmental law has developed sharply both at the domestic and the international levels. However, environmental law alone is not sufficient to protect the environment, and it necessarily requires the “assistance” of criminal law. Precisely this circumstance has led, in recent years, to a rapprochement between environmental protection and criminal law in light of the legal interests implicated in environmental protection.
