SAŽETAK / ABSTRACT:
This paper presents the results of a study on the possibilities and scope of applying digital technology in the teaching of Natural and Social Sciences. The first part of the research is based on a theoretical analysis of the learning outcomes and content of the subject Natural and Social Sciences for the fourth grade of primary school, as defined by current curriculum documents. The second part consists of empirical research aimed at examining teachers’ experiences and opinions regarding the use of digital technology in this subject area. As part of the same objective, an analysis was conducted of the written lesson plans available to teachers within the textbook sets they use for lesson implementation. The findings of these research efforts suggest that the subject Natural and Social Sciences offers considerable potential for the appropriate didactic and methodological integration of digital technology in achieving the prescribed learning outcomes. Furthermore, teaching practice is predominantly characterized by the use of technological aspects and resources of digital technology, as opposed to software-based and informational components.
