ABSTRACT / САЖЕТАК:
Microbial enzymes are becoming more desirable in the industrial sector due to their stability and cost-effectiveness. Among these, amylase is particularly important because of its ability to degrade starch. This study examined the presence of amylolytic bacteria in pond sediments from the Tangail district. The organic-rich pond sediments create favorable conditions for microbial proliferation, especially for bacteria. Ten sediments samples were collected from different ponds, and starch degradation tests on agar plates were performed to identify bacterial strains capable of hydrolyzing starch. Thirteen bacterial isolates underwent further biochemical testing, and six were selected for molecular analysis. PCR and DNA sequencing revealed that two isolates were amylolytic bacteria. These results demonstrate the prevalence of amylolytic bacteria in pond sediments, suggest potential opportunities for amylase production.
