SAŽETAK:

Rad je posvećen razvitku advokature u Francuskoj kroz istoriju, a naročita pažnja se u radu skreće na borbu advokata da poprave štetu koju je njihovom položaju nanela Buržoaska revolucija. Do potpunog ostvarenja ciljeva advokatske borbe došlo je u periodu Treće republike, s pravom nazvane „republikom advokata“, kada su zagospodarili zakonodavnom i izvršnom vlašću.

Francuski advokati su, naročito u XIX veku, neretko bili pravi politički disidenti. Svojim opozicionim radom redefinisali su odnos između države i društva i postavili jasnu granicu vlasti države, što je sve omogućilo lakši nastanak liberalne ustavne monarhije, a potom i republike. Zbog konstantnog opozicionog delovanja u sudnici, advokati su na najbolji mogući način demonstrirali u koliko tesnoj vezi stoje pravo i politika u svakoj državi.

U uvodnom poglavlju rada autor daje pregled istorijskog razvoja advokature od franačkog perioda do same Revolucije. U doba Starog režima advokati su uživali status „sekularnog sveštenstva“ i, iako pripadnici Trećeg staleža, bili su nezaobilazan politički faktor u apsolutističkoj Francuskoj. Drugo poglavlje sadrži analizu pogubnog uticaja Revolucije na advokatsku profesiju i stidljive pokušaje da se položaj advokature popravi sa nastupanjem Restauracije. U trećem poglavlju dat je pregled perioda od 1830. do 1870. godine, koji je karakterisala sve ozbiljnije mešanje advokata u politiku u cilju borbe za unapređenje položaja profesije. Poglavlje o Trećoj republici govori o uspešnom ishodu advokatske borbe za sopstvena prava, a završno poglavlje o tendencijama u francuskoj advokaturi u XX veku.
