САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:

Deterioration of bridge decks attributed to increasing traffic load and intensity but also due to lack of knowledge about fatigue behavior of steel decks and vulnerability to environmental conditions of reinforced concrete bridges decks, at the time when the bridge stock was built urge for development of efficient renovation techniques. Bridge decks made entirely of glass fibre-polymer composites (a.k.a Fiber Reinforced Polymers – FRP), are promising replacement of deteriorated steel concrete or timber (in movable bridges) bridge decks due to it’s low self-weight and good fatigue and corrosion resistance. This paper presents experimental efforts to advance knowledge about prediction and varication of fatigue behavior of the FRP deck panels in bridge designs and development of solutions for innovative fatigue resistant connection between an FRP bridge deck and steel girders in an hybrid FRP-steel bridge.
