САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:
Since their inception, reinforced concrete structures have been continually improved in light of new knowledge, technologies, and/or materials, making older structures like the subject in question significantly different from today’s common solutions in their design and implementation. This makes their revitalization a demanding and multidisciplinary task.
This paper provides a brief excerpt from the revitalization project of one of the oldest engineering RC structures in Vojvodina – the water tower within the cement factory in Beočin. The facility stands as a very important monument of construction heritage, but over its 120 years of use, it has suffered significant damage that even jeopardize its bearing capacity. Numerous activities that conditioned or accompanied the design process are summarized, such as geometry identification, detailed visual inspection, in-situ and laboratory testing, repair and rehabilitation measures for elements, with the main focus given to numerical analysis and adopted structural solutions.
