ABSTRACT / SAŽETAK:
The building of the central city market in Kragujevac was built in 1929 in the style of eclecticism. It was designed as a three-nave hall with semicircular side entrances. During the design, archival documentation was availRCle, from which it was seen that the building was reconstructed in the meantime in 1977 in order to aseismically strengthen the supporting structure. However, after recording the constructed state of the building in 2024, it was determined that the structure was not completely reconstructed according to the project, and it should be additionally reinforced and its load-bearing capacity adapted to current standards and regulations.
This paper presents the measures of reconstruction, adaptation and rehabilitation of the city market building in Kragujevac, which is almost 100 years old, in order to ensure aseismic resistance. New composite reinforced-concrete columns and beams were designed on part of the slabs of the gallery, as well as steel haunch on both sides of those beams. Also presented is a solution for securing the masonry walls using new diagonals in the form of couplings made of steel profiles, and strengthening the existing steel beams of the lower belt of the main roof trusses, with the introduction of a new longitudinal coupling.
