САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:

During the last decade, the demand for energy from the power grid has grown significantly due to theusers increase and the demand increase in industries and large power plants (steel mills, oil plants, food industry, water treatment and purification industries, etc.). This has led to a significant increase in global emissions of air pollutants due to conventional energy production (dominantly from thermal power plants). This has led to a significant increase in global pollutant emissions air, which are a consequence of conventional energy production (primarily thermal power plants). Photovoltaic systems have become the most popular resources because their potential is very big, so the world’s installed photovoltaic capacity has increased to more than 635 GW in the last years, covering about 2% of the world’s electricity demand. Power electronics have become an essential part of photovoltaic generation. Efforts to develop a new generation of energy-efficient converters are gaining more and more importance. Currently, multi-level inverters (MLI) have become more interesting compared to two-level inverters, due to their ability to provide fewer harmonics, less electromagnetic interference, higher efficiency and to operate a higher input DC voltage from the PV panels. This paper provides an overview of two and three-level inverters, their development and challenges with practical recommendations for their use in PV systems. The paper will also indicate possible problems and the impact of these power electronics devices as an integral part of PV power plants, on the electric distribution power network, and a brief overview of relevant standards in this area will be given.
