САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:

This paper analyzes the key characteristics of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) technology in transmission networks, with a particular focus on overhead lines and cable systems. In addition to discussing the fundamental principles of HVDC transmission, the paper examines its advantages and limitations compared to conventional HVAC (High Voltage Alternating Current) networks, providing a comparative analysis of technical and economic factors. Calculation examples are presented to illustrate key aspects of HVDC system operation and highlight differences from equivalent calculations in HVAC networks, based on real-world power systems. Furthermore, the paper provides insights into the dynamic performance of HVDC networks from a power system analysis perspective, including steady-state and transient operating conditions. Comparative evaluations of HVAC and HVDC network responses under fault conditions are conducted, with an emphasis on their impact on system reliability and stability. The objective of this paper is to contribute to a better understanding of HVDC technology in transmission systems through technical analyses and calculations, as well as to quantify differences compared to equivalent calculations for HVAC networks.
