САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:

This paper provides an overview, an explanation of the technology, and the results of flushing existing 110 kV cable lines for their environmentally friendly dismantling, specifically on the sections SS Beograd 1 – SS Beograd 6 (in full) and TETO Novi Beograd – SS Beograd 45 (the section from TETO Novi Beograd to the Sava Bridge). The expected operational lifespan of certain existing 110 kV cable lines in the territory of Belgrade is approaching its end, making their replacement necessary. The construction of these cables is based on paper and oil insulation, where the oil circulates through and around the conductor due to temperature influences and pressure, reaching the lead sheath, which serves as both mechanical and electrical protection for the cable.

This technology has now been replaced by „dry“ cables, as the old technology is being phased out due to its limitations in transmission capacity, maintenance difficulties, and adverse environmental impact. Through a technological process, depending on the cable’s construction, as well as other factors and field conditions, nitrogen is injected at low pressure to force the movement of oil from a point of higher pressure to a point of lower or atmospheric pressure. The displaced oil from the system is collected in designated containers and properly disposed of in accordance with environmental requirements. The result of this process is a partially dry cable and paper insulation, which can be easily dismantled and, if necessary, recycled.
