САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:
Schiff bases are a class of imine-containing compounds known for their diverse biological activities, including antioxidant potential. In this study, three novel Schiff bases were synthesized and evaluated for their ability to scavenge free radicals using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. Antioxidant activity was assessed against two representative radical species: the stable DPPH radical and the highly reactive hydroxyl radical. Among the compounds tested, Schiff base 1 showed the highest scavenging activity toward both DPPH (69.53%) and hydroxyl radicals (37.31%). Schiff base 3 exhibited moderate activity, while Schiff base 2 was significantly less effective, particularly in hydroxyl radical elimination (7.73%). These results offer a promising basis for further exploration of Schiff bases as potential therapeutic antioxidants.
