SAŽETAK:
U radu se analiziraju asinhroni i sinhroni vidovi komunikacije posredovane računarom (SMS), njihovi obrazovni potencijali i prednosti upotrebe u nastavi stranih jezika (L2). U radu će biti prikazana dosadašnja iskustva stranih i domaćih glotodidaktičara. Zaključak je da sinhroni virtuelni susreti pomažu u unapređivanju veštine usmenog izražavanja i vokabulara, dok je asinhrona elektronska prepiska podesnija za razvijanje veštine pisanog izražavanja, usmeravanje pažnje na određena jezička pravila. Uspešna primena SMS-a zavisiće prevashodno od poznavanja prednosti i nedostataka raspoloživih komunikacionih tehnologija, iskustva nastavnika i učenika, kao i postavljanja jasnih nastavnih ciljeva.
