САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:
The Republic of Moldova has been experiencing a high level of domestic political turbulence for the past 15 years. This has been caused by internal contradictions, the challenges of the transition period, and the incompleteness of otherwise quite successful reforms carried out in the country in the 2000s. The situation became even more complicated after the outbreak of the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine in February 2022.
Nevertheless, despite these unfavorable circumstances, digitalization technologies have been implemented quite successfully in various sectors of the Moldovan economy. The digitalization process has been particularly successful in the field of education, where Moldova has achieved significant results. Almost all schools are connected to the Internet. Hundreds of schools use electronic gradebooks and interactive equipment, and thousands of teachers undergo professional development courses. Digital academic records and electronic diaries are widely introduced in Moldovan schools, especially in urban areas. Paper-based media—such as class registers and student diaries—are gradually becoming a thing of the past.
In most classes, there are dedicated chat groups for communication between teachers, students, and parents. Social networks are actively used. Many schools and classes have their own pages on the social networking site Facebook. Any student or parent can obtain comprehensive information about the learning process, educational materials, academic performance, grades, and more.
Moldova’s successful experience in the digitalization of the education system has attracted the attention of other post-Soviet countries and the European Union.
