ABSTRACT / SAŽETAK:

Recent years brought significant changes to the global geopolitical and economic landscape, which affected the process of globalization. A new logic of geoeconomics has emerged, where economic integration is increasingly subordinated to national security and geopolitical goals (Mohr and Trebesch 2025). As global value chains fracture and trade barriers grow with increased uncertainty, participants in international economic relations are adopting the strategy of friendshoring, redirecting economic activities towards the economies sharing geopolitical and diplomatic alignment (Javorcik et al. 2024), oftentimes within the formal framework of regional economic integrations (Kastratović 2020).
