Greek foreign policy is based on a series of essential principles concerning the geopolitical position of the country as a member of the West, but also as a member of Eurasia and the Mediterranean geopolitical space. Greece as a country is located at a very strategic geographical position, at the juncture of three seas (Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea) and three continents (Europe, Asia, Africa). Greece features multiple geopolitical identities that are harmoniously combined and do not necessarily contradict each other: 1) the Euro-Atlantic dimension being an European Union and a NATO member (in the EU there are two ethnic Greek states along with Cyprus) 2) the Eurasian dimension being a member of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) platform, and 3) various regional identities with a focus lately on the Mediterranean Sea being a founding member of the East Med Gas Forum and sharing excellent ties with Egypt, Israel, and Saudi Arabia.
