ABSTRACT / САЖЕТАК:

This work is a qualitative case study that initiates a project to facili-
tate the understanding of abstract scientific content, such as the con-
cept of pH, through computational thinking and the programming
of Micro Bit control boards and sensors. This study was conducted
in a secondary school in Valverde del Camino, Huelva (Spain), in-
volving 26 students aged 15 to 16 years. The project focused on the
physicochemical characteristics of the Tinto River, a natural heritage
environment. To assess knowledge acquisition, an initial test was
conducted, and following the project’s implementation, a debate was
held to further explore the subject matter. The results suggest that
students not only gained a deeper understanding of pH and its rel-
evance in real-world contexts but also developed a significant com-
prehension of its environmental impact, linking scientific learning
with social and environmental responsibility and addressing ISTE
Standards for students.
