САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:

Most of modern industry applies induction motor drives supplied from frequency converters enabling control over a wide speed range efficiently. However, in order to further enhance energy efficiency, synchronous motors have recently been introduced to industrial applications. Accordingly, this study investigates performance of a standard industrial drive in configuration with synchronous reluctance motor, compared to those of an induction motor employing the flux optimization algorithm, as well as an induction motor with rated flux. Measurements of the frequency converter input power, input motor power and shaft power are conducted for both motors under identical operating conditions to assess energy efficiency for both drive and the selected motor. These experimental results are compared with analytically achieved ones, to determine the power losses distribution and to derive proper conclusions for high performance industrial applications. This paper presents an efficiency analysis of typical industrial drive with direct torque control in two configurations with different motors. Analytical and experimental results are analyzed and conclusions are derived. Benefits and drawbacks are listed and discussed.
