САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:
In pursuit of resource conservation, emission reduction, and cost minimization, prioritizing system energy efficiency is essential. Condensate return systems, often overlooked in efficiency improvement efforts, are susceptible to undersized pipe diameters and subsequent waterhammer events due to misconceptions about their operation. This paper addresses the detrimental effects of waterhammer caused by steam leakage due to improper maintenance practices and flashing condensate, highlighting the importance of recognizing condensate return lines as two-phase flow systems. The implementation of a flash vessel to separate flash steam from condensate is proposed as a solution to mitigate steam-induced waterhammer. Furthermore, the utilization of separated flash steam combines the objectives of system preservation and energy efficiency enhancement. This paper will cover the techno-economic analysis of implementing flash vessels and preventive steam trap maintenance. Through a comprehensive examination of system dynamics and practical recommendations, this paper advocates for the integration of flash steam technology to enhance the performance and longevity of condensate return systems.
