САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:

The authors present a short biography of the life and the achievements of the great Bulgarian bridge engineer L. Raykov in the field of the Concrete bridge design, in the occasions of 100 years from his born. The paper briefly describes the most interesting examples of deck-stiffened arch bridges designed by L. Raykov which are considered as a pioneering application of this type of structure in Bulgaria. Today these bridges after more than 60 years exploitation, still attract our interest not only with the dimensions of the structure but also with the technology used for their manufacturing and assembling of the bridge components.
