ABSTRACT / SAŽETAK:

Regional disparities in agricultural productivity and rural development continue to challenge the European Union’s cohesion objectives, particularly in the newer member states such as Romania. The aim of this study is to analyze and identify the patterns and determinants of regional disparities and convergence in EU agricultural and rural sectors, with a focus on Romania, in the context of the “new normal” paradigm. Using a territorial and sectoral perspective and comparative regional evidence the study highlights some of the gaps between urban and rural areas and between Romania and more developed EU regions, driven by structural constraints.
