ABSTRACT / SAŽETAK:

This study evaluated the prevalence, persistence, and economic impact of acidosis in Simmental cows across Croatian breeding regions using milk recording data (2005–2022; 3.9 million test-day records). Significant regional differences were observed, with higher prevalence and greater milk yield losses in Central and Eastern regions compared to the Mediterranean region. Acidosis was associated with sustained production losses and economic impact. Results highlight the need for early detection and region-specific management strategies.
