ABSTRACT / SAŽETAK:
This study aimed to investigate the effects of different nitrogen mineral fertiliser formulations and cultivars on the morphological traits and quality of lettuce. The experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions during the spring growing season, using a randomised complete block design with three replications. Five butterhead lettuce cultivars were examined, and treatments included the application of urea, calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN), and ammonium sulphate. The number, length, and width of outer leaves, as well as the content of soluble solids (Brix), were analysed. The results showed that fertiliser type, cultivar, and their interaction had a significant effect on all analysed parameters. The application of calcium ammonium nitrate resulted in a higher number of outer leaves, while ammonium sulphate influenced leaf dimensions. The highest Brix values were recorded in the treatment without nitrogen fertilisers.
