САЖЕТАК / ABSTRACT:

Millions of European teachers represent an important intellectual power. They influence a huge pupil’s population, which is not homogeneous nowadays, they influence parent’s community, and they have respected impact on a society. It is necessary to underline that the global world in the 21st century brings about several changes that have to be implemented into the work of teachers and teacher training. Consequently, the roles and competences of teachers (with the stress on global competences), in comparison with the past, are changing (there exist a lot of reasons, e.g., inclusion of pupils with special needs, social inclusion and diversity in multicultural classes, diversity of pupils’ family settings, families at risk, new ICT in school and home environment, involvement of parents in schools, etc.). At present, there is a general agreement among researchers that competences for teaching profession have to be understood widely, not only as “teaching” competences (i.e., teaching in the class, carrying out the class instruction), but also as the process to equip student teachers with the current “teacher” competences. Main goal of this paper is to present how latest trends are implemented into the university  professional training of student teachers in the bachelor study programme Pre-primary and primary education at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra and what kind of benefits they bring to the educational reality in kindergarten and primary school.
