ABSTRACT / САЖЕТАК:
The water dam remediation works included the rehabilitation of the existing grout curtain on the left abutment of the river channel after 40 years of operation. The need for intervention arose due to a sudden increase in drainage, with measured discharge rates of 70–100 L/s. Significant deterioration was identified along a large portion of the grout curtain; therefore, the works were carried out within zones of severely degraded and weakened foundation conditions, as well as within the riverbed area. The rehabilitation was implemented through supplementary grouting within the plane of the existing curtain, with boreholes positioned between previously executed exploratory boreholes. The work was carried out in four phases. Initially, grouting was performed along a total length of 809 m using contact and connecting boreholes, followed by the execution of vertical boreholes with a cumulative drilling length of 2,547 m, and subsequently inclined boreholes with a total length of 1,257 m. The final phase included the execution of boreholes in the dam riverbed foundation. One of the most important aspects of the rehabilitation process was the selection of the grout mixture and the execution of a control borehole. The selection of the grout mixture was based on laboratory testing of the physical and mechanical properties of different rehabilitation materials. Based on the results obtained, grout mixtures with water-to-cement ratios of 0.45, 0.50, and 0.55 were identified as suitable for improving the rock mass conditions.
