ABSTRACT / САЖЕТАК:

This paper explores the thematic depth of the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, particularly focusing on the narratives crafted by Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve and Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont. Through a comparative analysis, the study delves into the portrayal of Beauty’s character, the philosophical and feminist undertones in the tales, and the broader social and cultural implications of these narratives. By examining the transformation of the Beast and the evolving Beauty, the paper highlights how these stories reflect and challenge the societal norms of their respective periods. This analysis ultimately unveils the enduring relevance of the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, demonstrating its capacity to engage with evolving discussions of gender, power, and identity, and to resonate with audiences across different historical and cultural contexts.
