SAŽETAK / ABSTRACT:

Politrauma je istovremeno oštećenje organskih sistema sa sljedstvenim gubitkom homeostaze i teškim sistemskim reakcijama: slomom imunog sistema, multiorganskom insuficijencijom, sepsom. To je istovremena povreda više organa i tkiva.

Politrauma je jedan od najvažnijih uzroka mortaliteta i morbiditeta kod mladih u svijetu. Pošto motori nisu zatvorena vozila, ne čudi što su nesreće sa motorina generalno mnogo opasnije od drugih vrsta saobraćajnih nesreća. Težina povrede može zavisiti od vrste odjeće koju vozač nosi i brzine kojom se motor kreće. Najčešći oblik povrede motorista je oštećenje na putu, koje može biti od manjih do izuzetno teških.
