ABSTRACT / SAŽETAK:
Historiography is a widely accepted topic in the study of identifications. The selectiv-ity of the representation and (re)construction of the past, and the role of history in the formation of cultural memory, are inevitably connected with the (trans)forma-tion of various identifications. As Walter Pohl highlighted, “What happened in history is contingent and constantly challenges our values and expectations”.1 Therefore, the main aim of this study will be the analysis of post-Byzantine Greek historiography in the context of the (trans)formation of self-understanding and identification of the Greek-speaking Christians in the Ottoman Empire from the second half of the 15th century until the end of the 16th century.
