ABSTRACT / САЖЕТАК:
In the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture in East Sarajevo, an experiment was established in the spring of 2025 to examine the effect of a control treatment and ten types of synthetic zeolites, as well as their application rates, on the quality of forage pea hay (dry matter, ash, cellulose, crude protein, fat, and nitrogen-free extract). In the experiment, 20-liter containers were used, filled only with soil brought from a field that has been cultivated for a long period of time. However, variants were also included in which the soil was mixed with different amounts of zeolite. Seeds of spring field pea were sown in the prepared containers. Analysis of variance revealed a highly significant or significant effect, as well as interactions of the examined factors on pea hay quality. The exception was the effect of zeolite rate on cellulose content, where no significant differences were found.
The application of the synthetic zeolite ZEOflair100 resulted in increased cellulose, protein, and ash content in forage pea hay. The incorporation of 61.25 g of zeolite into the soil resulted in hay with the highest dry matter and protein content; with 122.5 g of zeolite, the hay had the highest nitrogen-free extract content; and the highest fat content was achieved with the application of 30.625 g of synthetic zeolite. These quality parameters were lowest in the control treatment.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT / ПРОЈЕКАТ:
This work is part of the research project technology development, equipment procurement and participation in expert meetings on technology development in the Republika Srpska for 2024 “Zeolites – sustainable soil regenerators in improving soil health, crop production and environmental protection under the influence of climate change” funded by the Ministry of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Republic of Srspka. We would like to express our gratitude to Zeochem d.o.o. Zvornik for providing us with the synthetic zeolites they produce, enabling us to evaluate their effectiveness and potential application in agricultural production and the protection of agroecosystems.
