SAŽETAK / ABSTRACT:
This paper explores the relationship between Althusser’s epistemology and psychoanalytic theory, focusing on the structural and ideological implications of the concept of the subject. Through an analysis of Althusser’s reading of Freud and Lacan, it examines the way in which the subject emerges as an effect of ideological apparatuses and symbolic structures, rather than as an autonomous source of agency. Special attention is given to the psychoanalytic – Althusserian interpretation of Slobodan Simić’s aphorism: Whoever truly has an “I” cannot be “we.” The aphorism proves to be a semantic strike, since, in conjunction with the theoretical framework, it unexpectedly shifts standard meanings. While psychoanalysis reveals a decentered, conflicted, and structured subject, Althusser shows that both I and we are products of interpellation, not natural or opposed categories. In this conjunction, the paper argues that the subject is necessary as a bearer of social reproduction, yet impossible as a source of truth, and that I and we can exist only as effects of apparatuses and encounters, never as their essences. The apparatus reproduces the signifying chain within the individual– subjectivizing it.
