SAŽETAK / ABSTRACT:

Countertransference is a key concept in psychoanalysis, enabling a deeper insight into the analysand’s unconscious life. In Heinz Kohut’s self psychology, countertransference is defined as a tool for reconstructing the analysand’s self-object needs through empathic introspection. Conversely, interactive psychoanalysis emphasizes intersubjective dialogue, where countertransference facilitates the formation of the therapeutic alliance and the creation of new meanings. This paper explores the theoretical, clinical, epistemological, and philosophical aspects of countertransference in both models, highlighting its role as an epistemological tool and a dynamic element of the therapeutic relationship. By comparing countertransference in self psychology and interactive psychoanalysis, this study demonstrates how countertransference becomes a central pillar for understanding and reconstructing the analysand’s experiences.
